And Yet It (Is) Moved

Presented at ArtLicks Weekend,  Palindromic Sequence – AltMFA, October 2015

Slime removal from Thames wall
Eppur si muove = and yet it moves, is Galileo’s response to the Church’s denial of the Earth moving around the Sun. The phrase is re-appropriated by M. Serres & Bruno Latour to describe the Anthropocene or the current denial of man-made climatic change and the Earth becoming an agent of history. The phrase now becomes “… and yet it IS moved”. This back and forth between science & truth resembles the ebb and flow of the Thames tide, in a palindromic, infinite effect.
